🎯 Current focus
Professionally, I’ve been focused on setting goals for the year for growth and opportunities & like everyone in my field, contemplating the impact of Sora on life as we know it. Personally, I’m focused on summer garden planning. The future is now and I'm excited to see it bloom, although I'm not sure if we have Audrey II or roses.
🧠 How to do more, with less
Something that’s been on my mind is how to do more, even better, with less. 2020 me would hate to have this on the mind, but I'm energized by emerging tech and flipping the script for how things have always been done and exploring different ways forward with even better outcomes.
Music wise, I'm really trying hard to fix my algorithm after too many tween Taylor takeovers. I’m especially excited for the release of Waxahatchee's upcoming album, Tigers Blood. Her voice is like Daphne blooms in the breeze to me.
🕉️ Mantra of the moment
"If it is to be it's up to me." I lost my mom to cancer last year and she and I used this mantra on the hard days. I've kept it with me not only in remembrance of her spirit, but to remind myself I’m a difference maker in every choice I make.
🎞️ Music in film making time & space feel unforgettable
One person I look up to is Susan Jacobs, Emmy-winning film and TV Music Supervisor. I don't know her nor have I ever worked with her, but we share 2 LinkedIn contacts and her work has made an impact on most of my adult life. The films and shows she has supervised have such interesting characters that are further developed in each of her choices. Watching these films brings about that nostalgic feeling of knowing exactly where you were, what you were wearing, who you were with the first time you heard that song you love. Many of the songs she places are not new, just shown through a new perspective – so fresh they smack your brain making time and space unforgettable once again. Earlier in my career I oversaw the business affairs department so the efforts to not only choose the music, but do all the deals on a budget is awe-inspiring badassery.
📺 Nothing better than binging a new TV series
I don't always have time for it, but there is really nothing better than binging a new TV series. Losing yourself for a long period of time, connecting with characters in a deeper way by spending a luxurious and lazy day with them. It's like a long warm bath where the water never goes cold.
🕵🏻 True Detective Night Country
I just wrapped True Detective Night Country and I know there are haters, but I really enjoyed it. Felt nostalgic on a few levels as a fan of the franchise, but also seeing Jodie Foster back on the screen.
📌 Brands worth paying attention to
Post Super Bowl, thinking about brands I’m paying attention to right now… definitely an interesting question. I do think Cere Ve certainly arrived on the scene in a way where it was impossible to forget the brand and really felt like VW was back as a cultural juggernaut with their spot. I'm interested in seeing what the Oscars bring as historically a more artful playground for brands.
🤫 Being a part of a really big secret: Snoop quitting smoke
I gotta say it was really fun last fall to overhear strangers at restaurants, my friends and family all talking about Snoop quitting smoke and not being able to say boo about it. I've never been a part of a secret that big. It felt like everyone everywhere was talking about it for that window of time. That one will stand out to me for a lifetime.
