Jamie Dee Hart, Hart & Songs
💭 Thoughts on TikTok as a search engine tool, summer staples and the SNOOZ white noise machine.
Jamie Dee Hart is a music rights management advocate who’s passionate about giving back and educating creators at all levels of their career. She’s the Founder & CEO of Hart & Songs, an artist and rights management firm ensuring independent artists, producers, and songwriters properly register songs and effectively collect their royalties. Jamie loves staying active, aesthetically pleasing rooftop pools, and hosting themed gatherings for her friends.
🎯 Current focus
I am currently focused on building out my company Hart & Songs — I’m excited to continue expanding the kind of clients I am working with and finding ways to give back to the creator community. Recently I made a Beyond The Classroom Guide for college students and recent grads in the music industry. It’s a resource that I wish I had when I was in school because it can be so hard to build a network in the industry early in your career.
🤳 TikTok as a search engine tool
Something unique about how I use TikTok is that I use it purely as a search engine tool. Whether I am planning a trip in a different country or want to learn about a certain topic TikTok provides some of the BEST content. Next time you are looking for the perfect hotel or restaurant in a new city look it up on TikTok, you will not be disappointed I promise!
🎧 Songs that make you feel the feelings
3 songs that I absolutely love right now are “Deep End” by Holly Humberstone, “All I Ever Ask” by Rachel Chinouriri, and “Arms” by The Paper Kites. All of these songs just make me feel the feelings and I love that part about connecting with songs.
🕉️ Mantra of the moment
I am just about to hit one year of being a full-time entrepreneur and something that I continued to be reminded of is that the universe will bring you opportunities if you are passionately building something and you put all of your heart into it.
🌊 Summer staples
I’m so looking forward to SUMMER. I am excited for summer to wear all of the linen clothes, get sandy and sun-kissed, and spend time with my friends.
Target's summer clothing section is underrated, I have found some of my best linen & summer clothes there. On the more "fancy" side I am obsessed with all things Free People. Hats are a necessity in the summer and Lack Of Color has some of my FAVORITE hat styles. I grew up in San Diego and was raised on Roberto's rolled tacos and boogie boarding at Torrey Pines beach and nothing gets better than that!
💤 SNOOZ white noise machine
Something that I cannot live without is my SNOOZ white noise machine in my bedroom, I HIGHLY recommend it for light sleepers.
SNOOZ has an actual fan inside which is way better than a sound machine version of white noise. It has a Bluetooth-enabled app that I can control from my phone so I can turn it on from my bed! Adulting truly is finding products that make your sleep better.
🎶 Sabrina Carpenter’s "Espresso"
Sabrina Carpenter’s song "Espresso" has a marketing plan of pop genius behind it. Personally, I'm obsessed with its catchy lyricism, and it's impossible to avoid encountering this song on the internet. I love the various ways people are creating content with it. I fully embrace my Sabrina stan status.
I have seen some incredible artists write a verse on the song, one of my favorite videos is from Devon Cole - as well as creating their own versions of the song like Stacey Ryan who made a jazz acapella version that blew my mind - and finally always a fan favorite, Tiny Habits did a stairwell version of it and I am obsessed with the harmonies.
