π§βπ» Tech hacks for the best content
I love how it just seems like the tools for building your own successful brand / band / business are more accessible than ever. If you want to start your own record label or creative agency, you can just go and do it. Whether you're utilizing Squarespace to make a website, ChatGPT to draw up deal memos, Canva to design a flyer, Landr to master your songs, or Izotope to extract stems, there are so many cool combinations of tech hacks you can utilize to make best-in-class content.
π Laura Palmerβs Theme
I'm now watching Twin Peaks for the first time which is campy and amazing and I of course am in love with Special Agent Cooper. If you haven't seen the video where Angelo Badalamenti explaining how he wrote Laura Palmer's Theme, check it out because it's one of those "must see" internet videos:
π Mantra of the moment
Everyone's just doing their best... treat others the way you'd want to be treated. Don't be a jerk!
β€οΈβπ₯ Approaching your career with passion
I just really admire anyone who approaches their music career or artistic pursuits with pure authenticity and passion. Like, if you're a band manager and you're actually good at it, that's so cool. I think being a manager is probably one of the hardest and most thankless jobs because it's so amorphous, and difficult to cut through the noise. But I'm really impressed by anyone (a manager, synch agent or label, etc) who works with a young artist at their earliest phase because they truly believe in what they're doing and they're able to help them achieve breakthrough success. That's just the coolest!
π§ββοΈ Meditating to foster a strong sense of gratitude
I'm going on a silent meditation retreat in the bay area next week for 6 nights. You basically just sit and meditate all day in a beautiful meditation hall with 100 other people. And then you can also go on hikes in the hills and stuff. It's something I've done every year for the last 6 years or so... it's such a nice way to have a mental reset and foster a strong sense of gratitude for your life.
πΈ Buying art from your friends
I just bought a bench from my friend Cal who has a bespoke furniture company called Hard Wares. It's really beautiful handmade stuff. I think buying art from your friends is just about one of the best things you can spend your money on.
π« Safe & sustainable ingredients
For brands Iβm paying attention to, any brand that is using safe / sustainable ingredients. I've kind of become obsessed with this app called Yuka, which is an app that scan food and beauty products to give you a grade on the health impact of the product. Turns out those granola bars I had for breakfast are basically toxic.
